Process income tax return service

Below we explained our income tax return preparation service process step by step, so that you know what to expect if you order service with pap-rwork. Note that the income tax return comes with a basic explanation and in case of questions, a short call is also possible.
Step 1: you order tax return service and arrange for payment
Pap-rwork (responds within 24 hours):
- we confirms receipt, provide details and share a checklist - per email
- in case of a meeting, we also share a link for planning the meeting (with Calendly)
- we create a user profile for you in Nextens (by Elsevier) - link per separate email
Step 2: you activate your Nextens account
Step 3: you complete your checklist and share it with us (documentation can be shared later)
Pap-rwork starts up the process:
- we complete your Nextens profile with personal data (BSN & dob)
- we start up client ID check
- we apply for extension for filing
- we apply for VIA - pre filled information**
* Extension for filing
We apply for extension for clients in case the Dutch tax return is not yet filed in the week prior to the normal deadline of May 1. Normally we get an extension of 1 year. That may not be the case if there is a history of late filing or if the deadline already expired.
** Pre filled information (Voorafingevulde Aangifte / VIA)
We request for a code which you will receive in a letter from the Dutch tax authorities. We can use this code to access to data for the concerning year, which is shared with the Dutch tax authorities by employers, financial institutions and local authorities.
Step 4: you collect tax relevant information and documentation on basis of your checklist
Step 5: you upload tax relevant information and documentation in your client portal
Pap-rwork (within a week) starts preparation
- We prepare your income tax return once information is complete
- we reach out to you in case of questions or missing information
- we upload your income tax return report into your client portal once prepared
Step 6: you download a copy of the report and check the data in the prepared income tax return
Step 7: you check with us in case of questions and then approve the return in the portal if you agree with the reported data
Once approved, the income tax return report will automatically be send to the Dutch tax authorities electronically. They usually respond with a (provisional) tax assessment within 3 months.
Please note that:
- the Dutch tax authorities' software is usually ready to receive Dutch income tax returns from March 1 of the year following to the concerning tax year.
- if you owe tax, payment can only be arranged upon receipt of a (provisional) tax assessment
- interest may be charged on top of payable tax if your return is filed after April 30 and your assessment is issued after July 1 of the year following to the concerning tax year
- tax refunds are paid out upon receipt of a (provisional) tax assessment
- interest is refunded on top of your tax refund in case the Dutch tax authorities take more than 3 months to issue an assessment.
