Status with the Dutch tax authorities
Once your income tax return is filed with the Dutch tax authorities, it usually takes approximately 3 months before they issue a (preliminary) assessment and settle the finances.
Unfortuately they can take more time, skip a preliminary assessment etc. They formally have 3 years to issue an assessment, which very rarely happens (often in situations where there is a potential big impact for them and where they cannot match data without additional information). Consequently, status updates are not part of the fixed income tax preparation fee.
If you want to check if they received your return and accepted it or in case you filed and 3 months have expired since - without an assessment, you can consider giving them a call at 0800 0543 only from a Dutch phone number or you can call +31 555 385 385 to check the status (available in English).
